New Build Detached House in a Conservation Area

We were thrilled to work with a long-time resident of central Shrewsbury who wished to achieve planning permission for a new home that would seamlessly integrate into the area’s distinctive 1920s architectural heritage.

The project envisioned a grand five-bedroom dwelling spanning three storeys, accompanied by a spacious outbuilding. We meticulously crafted a design that harmonised with the surrounding historical context while also offer an exceptional living space.

The site presented a unique set of challenges, as it had previously been rejected for planning permission due to concerns about its compatibility with the surrounding conservation area. We carefully analysed the site’s context and addressed the planning concerns raised by the local authority. The result was a design which integrated into the historic setting while also providing a functional and aesthetically pleasing new home.

Our success in obtaining planning permission for this project highlights our ability to work effectively with planning authorities and our deep understanding of conservation area guidelines. We are committed to creating homes that respect the character of the surrounding heritage while also delivering exceptional spaces for our clients.

Update:

However, after securing planning permission, the client opted to retain the plot and embark on a smaller home project tailored to their evolving needs. This decision enabled them to build a bespoke residence that accommodated their classic car collection and provided a tranquil retreat for family gatherings.

Despite the change in plans, we remain proud of the planning permission we obtained for this ambitious project, which exemplifies our ability to seamlessly blend modern architectural designs into heritage-rich environments.
